RoseWood started one day when I decided I wanted a dog in my new home. I had great danes as a child so decided I would love to have one again. My mistake was not looking around for a good breeder and ended up buying one from a local person who was just breeding for profit. Belle ended up being a sweetheart but had quite a few problems. I learned alot from her tho, so that when I went in search of my next Dane I researched and found a wonderful breeder and friend Dale Garrison. There came one of my great loves, Beast. He was a awesome dog with incredible personality. I started to show him when he was six months old and he loved being in the ring. We unfortunately lost him at the tender age of 18 months to a cardiac problem. It was not a genetic but was due to carpet he had eaten as a puppy.
During this time my husband encouraged me to take on another breed. He had seen this cute dog on the TV and decided he would like one. Basenji I said to him, why them. So back to the drawing board with research and we found our first basenji Sonya. Donna Trouten allowed me to bring Sonya into our lives. Like the saying goes "Basenjis are like potato chips you can't have just one." We have grown from there. Basenjis are not a breed for everyone but when you fall in love with them they are a wonderful companion. Through the basenjis I have met a lot of lifetime friends and have added some loving family members. Please visit them on their own page.
Now on to the name of my Kennel
I know there are many RoseWoods but mine has a very unique story. My husband Frank, when he was trying to get me to go on a date with him, sent me one dozen white roses. It was one of the swaying factors for our first date. Every woman loves roses. Then after we were married every tuesday I would receive roses to place on my desk at work. I felt very special and it became a topic of conversation at work what color roses I had this week. So I wanted to some how bring that into my kennel name because they will always remind me of him. He unfortunately never got to see our first homebred champion finish. He passed away Sept. 2 2001...but every time I show a RoseWood dog it will be for him.
Frank was a wonderful and loving man. He gave me things in my life that I never thought possible. He paid me the highest compliment by allowing me to share his life as his friend, lover and wife. His sense of humor lives on in the people who knew him and loved him. He came into my life when I needed someone to help me carry on. He taught me that life was for living. So the greatest gift I can give him is to use the things he taught me and live my life every day like it maybe my last. Because only God knows when he is going to call you. So Frank till we meet again J'e t'aime
